Giorgos Theofanous – “35 I Love You… Together for Children”

On Friday, October 11, at the fully packed Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the concert of composer and lyricist Giorgos Theofanous, titled “35 I Love You… Together for Children,” was held with absolute success. The evening, filled with music, emotion, and touching moments, took the audience on a journey through the 35-year career of the composer in Greek music. All proceeds from the concert will go to support the member associations of the “Together for Children” Union.
Beloved artists performed songs by the composer. With Giorgos Theofanous at the piano as the conductor, Konstantinos Argyros, Melina Aslanidou, Christos Dantis, Evridiki, Peggy Zina, Kostas Makedonas, Pitsa Papadopoulou, and Antonis Remos created an unforgettable evening for all who attended.
Major hits from the composer’s 35-year career were presented, accompanied by a 14-member orchestra under the musical direction of Leonidas Tzitzos. The soloists (in alphabetical order) included Thanos Giouletzis on violin, Nikos Zoidakis on lyra, and Manolis Karantinis on bouzouki.
One of the most emotional moments of the evening was when Giorgos Theofanous paid tribute to the great composer Mimis Plessas, sharing memories of their collaboration with the audience.
A tender moment of the concert occurred when children sang for children, with over 100 choir members taking the stage from the following choirs:
- Dionysos Municipality Children’s Choir (conductor: Chrysoula Tsimouri)
- St. Barbara Argyroupolis Church Children’s Choir (conductors: Lora Petropoulou – Eleonora Zacharia)
- Cantus Atenas Children’s Choir (conductor: Dimitra Chanou)
- Con Anima Ergani Association Children’s Choir (conductor: Ioulia Tzanetoulakou)
The young choir members performed a brand-new song with music by Giorgos Theofanous and lyrics by Thanos Papanikolaou, inspired by phrases written by the children of the “Together for Children” Union in notes and drawings. This song was dedicated to children all over the world, sending a message of hope and love.
The concert was recorded and filmed and will soon be released by Panik Records.
