“Together in Border Areas: Presidential Support at 3rd Primary School of Konitsa”
On Tuesday, February 24, we had the great honor of visiting the 3rd Primary School of Konitsa, together with the President of the Hellenic Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, and the modern indoor gymnasium that we renovated as part of the “Together in Remote Areas” program.
The presence of the President highlighted the importance of substantial support for border and remote areas and the promotion of education. The project, implemented in 2025, provides 67 students and 15 teachers with a modern and safe space for sports, addressing a long-standing need of the school. The renovation of the indoor gymnasium is not just an upgrade of infrastructure but an investment in the future of children. Students now have the opportunity to exercise in a space that encourages the adoption of a healthier lifestyle.
With the intervention carried out, the gym floor was reinforced with a 200 sq.m. acrylic system, marked for basketball and volleyball, two new wall-mounted backboards with hoops and nets were installed, a volleyball net with immediate wall suspension was set up, while the interior walls of the gymnasium were refreshed with paint. At the same time, the school was equipped with 262 pieces of sports equipment and materials, including climbing frames, a vaulting box, balance beam, punching bag, gymnastics mats, and a climbing wall. Additionally, students have access to balls, cones, obstacles, relay batons, hoops, and team markers, as well as target and balance games, such as boccia sets and mini-golf.
