Launch of the 2nd Year of the STEM & Soft Skills Program
On Saturday, September 27, at 10:00 a.m., the second year of the STEM Education and Soft Skills program begins at the Faculty of Education of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), at the Marasleio Teaching School.
During the second year, students will have the opportunity to further advance in STEM applications, robotics, and artificial intelligence, under the guidance of specialized educators through weekly classes.
The program, implemented by Together for Children in collaboration with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, aims to introduce children to the exciting world of STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through experiential and playful activities that combine theory and practice, focusing on empowering students in technology, science, and digital skills.
At the same time, the program emphasizes the development of 35 soft skills—such as teamwork, emotional management, decision-making, and critical thinking—that strengthen students’ self-confidence and support their social integration.
Students are divided into two groups (5th and 6th grade elementary school girls, and middle school boys and girls) and participate in the program free of charge, ensuring equal opportunities for access to quality education.
An important feature of the program is that the elementary school class is composed exclusively of girls, with the goal of promoting equal gender access to engineering and modern technologies—fields in which girls have traditionally had more limited participation due to social norms.
The program is made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation and the GEK TERNA Group of Companies.
