Implementation of the Teacher Training Program under the Auspices of the Ministry of Education

The Teacher Training Program for the Promotion of Mental Health in the School Community, titled “Iroes Mazi”, is an initiative of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports and is being implemented under its auspices, with Together for Children as the implementing organisation and the support of Stoiximan.

The program includes experiential seminars and workshops designed for teachers of all specialisations and educational levels. Its aim is to help teachers develop practical strategies and skills that they can immediately apply in their everyday school environment and teaching practice.

The “Iroes Mazi” program will support approximately 1,200 teachers across Greece, strengthening their role in addressing the contemporary challenges faced by school communities. It seeks to foster resilience and contribute to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where every child can thrive.

In addition to participating in the seminar series, teachers will have access to the free 11525 counselling helpline, operated by Together for Children, for further support and guidance.

Seminar Topics

The seminars will address key issues that school communities face on a daily basis, including bullying prevention and management, anger and challenging behaviours during adolescence, exam and performance-related anxiety, children’s relationship with the internet, resilience and the skills teachers need today, and effective communication between parents and teachers. The program will also place particular emphasis on supporting children with neurodevelopmental needs, understanding how the brain functions during adolescence, and addressing issues related to sexual health.
